IMO these were the only good ones besides maybe a third gen with an optional V6 in it. We had a 2nd gen and it was an absolute turd when it was working which by 60,000 miles was less often than it was in the shop.

This was the best one.
I feel like the C-HR is its spiritual successor in a way.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

Simple, sensible design, great visibility, unique tailgate design with car like low load floor, light weight, available manual transmission, relatively easy Celica turbo swap should you feel the need.
Toyota needs to take notes and send the CH-R back into the UFO crash site it came out of.

p.s. with all this early RAV4 love I feel like the CR-Vs of the era deserve a little attention too. Pretty nice little vehicles too - my family had both this gen and the next and both were great for what they were and pretty fun little things to drive.
